Our mission
Needlepoint has always been about patience, skill, and a personal touch. But not everyone can sketch a chart from scratch or translate an idea in their head into a painted canvas. NeedlepointLab exists to close that gap — to make it easier for hobbyists to design something original and personal that they couldn't otherwise chart themselves, and to make the craft more accessible to more makers.
We want to help you sit down with a blank canvas and a real design of your own — not settle for a mass-produced, pre-painted one.
How we think about AI
We use AI as a creative aid, not a replacement for the craft. It gives you a starting point — a chart, a palette, a guide — and the rest is yours. The end result is always a physical, hand-stitched piece made by you.
A core goal of the tool is to help people hand-paint their own canvas. The AI-generated design serves as the reference you paint onto a blank needlepoint canvas yourself, rather than buying a pre-painted, mass-produced canvas off the shelf. The design is the guide; the painting and the stitching are the craft.
We see this as positive, ethical use of AI within the fiber-arts community: helping an individual maker create something personal and original, not generating finished goods for resale or mass production.
